Dialog with stakeholders

The partnership policy of AREVA La Hague enables it to lend its support to local causes or associations. The two areas chosen include environmental protection and preservation, on one hand, and education and knowledge sharing on the other.
Partners for the environment
Conventions have been signed with local associations that are developing education and teaching projects on the theme of the environment:
- The Cotentin Cetaceans Study Group (GECC).
- The Vauville botanical garden.
- The national nature reserves of Vauville Pond and the Domaine de Beauguillot.
Partners in education
The AREVA La Hague facility is directly involved- with institutional partners and other enterprises - in the creation of a higher education center in Cotentin, featuring, in particular, the Center for Technological Innovation. The center is intended to serve as an interface between the university and local and regional enterprises concerned with applied research and technology transfer.
The site also supports regional facilities:
- It is part of the council of administration and advanced training of the School of Engineering and the University Institute of Technology of Cherbourg. As such it participates in teaching and receives interns.
- It is active in the administrative councils of vocational high schools.
- It participates in the Career forum and youth orientation &uot;Career 2000&uot;.
Participation in social placement structures
The facility acts directly in favor of placement of youths through its participation in two essential structures:
- La Maison de l'Emploi et de la Formation (MEF- The &uot;Job and Training House&uot;), which coordinates social and professional placement activities on the job pool level notably for youths from ages 16-25 having exited the school system. AREVA is a member of the Administrative Council of the MEF.
- The Local Association of Cotentin for Youth Placement, an organization providing global intervention to serve youths.
Assistance to employees involved in local agencies
The management of AREVA La Hague has always worked to facilitate the integration of employees into the local fabric since its formation, in economic development movements or as part of local mandates.
More than one hundred AREVA employees carry out elective responsibilities in the majority of local and departmental communities:
- Mayors, adjuncts, and municipal advisors in the communities along a 40 km stretch.
- Presidents of Municipalities and Communities, vice-presidents and community councilors in public facilities working on intermunicipal cooperation.
- Councilor at large in the General Council of La Manche.
Responsibilities in local economic institutions
AREVA La Hague is present in developmental structures of the country through representation at various levels (administrative councils, commissions) or through employee participation in work groups to lend their council or expertise. The following can be noted in particular:
- Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Cherbourg.
- Local and regional development agencies (Miriade, Normandie Développement, Sygma Energie 50).
- Joint unions (SMC, PNA, Development council).
Support for the creation or development of local enterprises
AREVA La Hague relies on the delegation for local economic development to help seed entrepreneurial projects. These initiatives are achieved through:
- Contribution of expertise necessary to put together projects to create new activities,
- Financial support, or even through the availability of reception infrastructure.
AREVA's La Hague site supports several structures to assist in the creation of small businesses, such as:
- A business incubator.
- The Cotentin Initiatives association.
They are also directly involved in the creation and development of small businesses through financial participation (AREVADELFI Fund) or through lending skills (ALIZE Manche organization).
AREVA La Hague is also actively involved in the transfer of technology and innovation to the local level, notably through support given to a number of stakeholders:
- The Normandie Incubation association (incubator recognized by the Ministry of Research).
- The CRITT (Regional Center of Innovation and Technology Transfer) of Basse-Normandie Cotentin.
- Cherbourg Technopole (part "works under contaminations").
