Dialog with stakeholders

Mirabeau, on the outskirts of Cadarache

For several decades the AREVA Cadarache facility has represented a significant part of the economic activity of the job pool. This is accompanied by a willingness to integrate into the territory, notably through participation in local economic and social life.

Participation in the Local Information Commission (LIC)

The LICs were created by public powers in 1981 at principal sites for nuclear production, study, or waste storage. Their role: ensure the interface between operator, public power in charge of civil security and the population living near the site.

The Cadarache LIC is made up of local elected officials, representatives from environmental defense organizations, labor union organizations and others. It is broken down into thematic commissions that meet on a routine basis.

The annual operating report, environmental results and development of AREVA Cadarache are presented to the members of the LIC.

In addition, news updates concerning the facility are frequently provided in the publication of the LIC, &uot;CLIC Info.&uot;

Promoting familiarity with the site

Regular spread of documentation

AREVA distributes information on its activities (institutional graphs, environmental report, etc.) to local opinion hubs (elected officials, socioprofessionals, journalists, etc.). These same documents are also addressed to all personnel and given to visitors as well.

Local development initiatives

Sponsoring policy

Every year the facility leads a local policy of regional integration. Over the course of 2008, AREVA Cadarache supported a total of 16 cultural or sporting events. This primarily involved donations of computer equipment or logo objects.

Economic impact of the facility

In 2008, the total of orders for supplies and services placed by the facility was 26 million Euros, spread over more than 313 companies.

In addition, €2.6 million in fees and taxes were paid, including €1.4 million in corporate taxes.

Supplier relations

AREVA Cadarache works with numerous local suppliers. Around 71% of all orders placed in 2008 were in the departments of Bouches-du-Rhône, Gard, and Vaucluse

Regular meetings with suppliers: every month, facility management gathers all contractor representatives present in the facility to exchange views on issues at stake, quality, security, and safety.
