GADS: from maintenance to worksite assistance

A subsidiary of STMI, GADS was acquired by AREVA in 1989. The activities of the facility involve specialized maintenance, industrial operator functions and worksite assistance.
The specialized maintenance offer
A wide array of services
GADS performs specialized maintenance operations, mechanical repairs, rigging of equipment or nuclear installations.
The range of services is broken down into 7 main sections:
- Mechanical maintenance of large components.
- Valve maintenance.
- Maintenance on rotating machines and special machines.
- Mechanical expertise and applied geometry.
- Surface and material treatment.
- Handling of specific heavy loads.
- Engineering and maintenance methods.
These activities benefit from accreditations and certifications:
- ISO 9001 and CEFRI E certifications.
- EDF qualification: DEA valves, sheet metal work, maintenance, rotating machines, electricity and instrumentation, climate engineering, nuclear logistical maintenance, inspections, analyses, measurements and testing, handling.
Coval plate: combining local expertise
At the end of 2004, GADS, in association with PONTICELLI, won two out of five work packages put up by EDF for maintenance operations on the Coval plate. Mission: undertake the opening, closure, maintenance and hydraulic testing of primary and secondary capacities on the Belleville and St-Laurent B sites.
Industrial operator services
Targeted activities
At the heart of the industrial process of its customers, GADS shares objectives for production, time frame, waste optimization and productivity gains.
In this perspective, the facility intervenes primarily in 5 sectors:
- Operation of low- and mid-level nuclear waste treatment facilities.
- Operation of decontamination workshops.
- Operation of disassembly installations.
- Operation of waste storage/interim storage facilities.
- Miscellaneous operations.
The company benefits from a national presence over all French nuclear sites, notably through the pooling of competence from three other companies of the AREVA group: STMI, POLINORSUD, and ESI.
The site benefits from the following accreditations and certifications:
- ISO 9001 and CEFRI E certifications
- ISO 14001 - ICPE Triade certifications
- CAEAR Domaine 2 acceptance
A 100% AREVA joint venture serving EDF
On the site of the Creys Malville power plant, undergoing disassembly, a joint venture of companies led by AREVA operates several facilities belonging to the fuel chain. In this context, GADS demonstrates its mastery of control and handling.
In addition, the integration of GADS allows the joint venture to rely on a significant staff of maintenance personnel (up to 16 agents mobilized at the same time).
Global services in worksite assistance
GADS coordinates and performs end-to-end operations in repair logistics for nuclear power plants, whether they are running or suspended.
The company thereby offers 4 fields of intervention:
- Work and support logistics (nuclear and conventional).
- Operational radiation protection.
- Scaffolding, jacketing, and high-elevation work.
- Coordination and control of activities.
These tasks are performed in collaboration with two other companies of the group: POLINORSUD and GAMMA Assistance. With GADS, they coordinate their teams in order to offer customers a wide array of services and skills.
These activities benefit from accreditations and certifications:
- ISO 9001 and CEFRI E certifications.
- EDF qualification: maintenance, nuclear logistics, cleaning, handling, rotating machines, jacketing, scaffolding, sheet metal working, piping.
