Rigorous testing is carried out on packing solutions to mitigate for drops, perforation, fire, and immersion.
In addition, AREVA TN routinely participates in security sessions and serves on the Transport Commission of the IAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency).
AREVA TN selects world-leading enterprises to handle the manufacture of secure packing systems. The majority of these firms hold ISO 9001 certification or the equivalent. Inspection and monitoring of production is also performed at every step.
Finally, the Fabrication department works in close cooperation with the Design-Accreditation, Maintenance and Quality departments in order to develop new materials and new manufacturing processes.

Being ISO 9001- and 14001-certified, LMC operates in full compliance with the Accord européen relatif au transport international des marchandises dangereuses par route (ADR, or European Agreement on the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road (or ADR). Its drivers undergo special training and hold a license authorizing them to transport Class 7 radioactive materials.
For rail transport, the company has 46 freight cars specially-equipped to transport heavy loads (more than 100 tons) in compliance with the International Rule for the Transportation of Dangerous Goods by Railway (or RID).
For maritime transport, AREVA TN utilizes oceangoing transport ships and specially chartered vessels in accordance with the International Maritime Organization (IMO) code.
