Design-Accreditation
TN International offers solutions for transportation and packaging appropriately-adapted to a full range of transportation and interim storage requirements.
Secure storage and transportation depends on the quality of packing. TD International's approach involves of designing shipping containers adapted to the requirements of its customers and designed in strict compliance with international safety and security regulatory requirements. Rigorous testing is carried out on packing solutions to mitigate for drops, perforation, fire, and immersion.
In addition, TN International routinely participates in security sessions and serves on the Transport Commission of the IAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency).
Manufacture
TN International selects world-leading enterprises to handle the manufacture of secure packing systems. The majority of these firms hold ISO 9001 certification or the equivalent. Inspection and monitoring of production is also performed at every step.
Finally, the Fabrication department works in close cooperation with the Design-Accreditation, Maintenance and Quality departments in order to develop new materials and new manufacturing processes.
Transport
TN International works with LMC, one of its subsidiaries for road transport. Being ISO 9001- and 14001-certified, LMC operates in full compliance with the Accord européen relatif au transport international des marchandises dangereuses par route (ADR, or European Agreement on the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road (or ADR). Its drivers undergo special training and hold a license authorizing them to transport Class 7 radioactive materials.
For rail transport, the company has 46 freight cars specially-equipped to transport heavy loads (more than 100 tons) in compliance with the International Rule for the Transportation of Dangerous Goods by Railway (or RID).
For maritime transport, TN International utilizes oceangoing transport ships and specially chartered vessels in accordance with the International Maritime Organization (IMO) code. As a shareholder in Pacific Nuclear Transport Limited (PNTL), it can leverage a certified fleet of 4 vessels specially dedicated to the transport of nuclear materials reaching the end of their life cycle, such as MOX fuel and vitrified residues.
All shipments are tracked in real time by the Centre Opérationnel de Suivi (COS, or Operational Monitoring Center).
Fleet maintenance and management
Secure packing centers and transport resources are routinely inspected and reviewed. On request, TN International will also conduct material maintenance checks and reviews for its customers. Secure packing maintenance is performed according to Safety File guidelines.
