Dialog with stakeholders

Partial view of the SOMANU workshops

Through the continuous improvement process, SOMANU's plant of action includes dialog and consensus-building. The site provides comprehensive educational information about its activities, environmental measurements and the management of any event.

Actions to promote familiarity with the site

Thee implementation of this process includes:

  • The distribution of an Environmental, Social and Corporate Report to elected representatives, representatives from the main authorities, members of the local information commission and other relevant parties likely to act at the SOMANU site.
  • The distribution of a Nuclear Safety and Radiation Protection Report, made obligatory by the TSN law, using suitably simplified language to make it accessible to the general public, intended for the same recipients as the Environmental, Social and Corporate Report. It is also available on the Internet.

To date, SOMANU only accepts visits within a strictly professional context, given the application of current anti-terrorism measures. In this vein the site receives representatives of the nuclear industry, clients of local information relays (elected officials, Local Information Commission, journalists...) every year.

Educational activities

  • The site hosts young people on traineeships and work placement contracts accompanied by a tutor.  Several young people on work placement schemes or traineeships from schools can learn about SOMANU's activities and discover what it is like to work in industry.
  • A working group of firefighters from Maubeuge also comes for technical talks and presentations for preparedness and event management. SOMANU has signed an agreement with the fire department for the Regional Fire and Emergency Service. This relates to the participation in qualified training for firefighters, to act in radiological environments.
