History

AREVA's Chalon/Saint-Marcel facility is part of a rich metallurgic tradition dating back to the second half of the 19th century (Schneider) and then to the Creusot-Loire group. It owes its economic development to the ambitious French nuclear power program of the seventies and eighties. Today it employs more than one thousand people.
- 2009:
- The facility received the "Nuclear Historic Landmark Award" from the American Nuclear Society (ANS). This honor is awarded to entities for their outstanding contribution to the development of nuclear power and for their utilization of leading-edge industrial technologies.
- Delivery of the four steam generators and one pressurizer for the Olkiluoto nuclear power plant in Finland. The first EPR™ reactor power plant is now under construction.
- 2008: inauguration of the plant's new welding school, a 1 million euro investment.
- 2007 : 9 million Euros invested over the year with the renovation and installation of new equipment: commissioning of a stapler, brushing machine and cleanliness modules...
- December 2007: two EPRTM reactors for China ordered by the Cantonese utility company CGNPC along with all products and services necessary for their operation.
- December 2006: order for the first EPRTM reactor in France by EDF for the Flamanville site.
- 2006 : extension of the assembly hall for components by almost 3,000m&up2;.
- 2004 : launch of a 30 million Euro investment program which enabled, among other things, the recruitment of 250 people. Order for the first generation III+ power plant in the world, the EPRTM reactor for Olkiluoto in Finland.
- Early 2000: replacement components market opened in the United States.
- 1990-2000 : French replacement components market opened.
- 1975-1995 : production of components for new French nuclear power plants and involvement in opening the new power plant for export market (South Africa, South Korea, China).
- 1975 : inauguration of the heavy components production workshop at Saint Marcel.
- 1973 : decision to establish a plant in a region specializing in metallurgy and mechanics. The goal: to meet the demands of the civil nuclear power industry.
