Lesedi (South Africa): services and maintenance

The Lesedi Nuclear Services Company was founded in the 1980s in South Africa, with the construction of the Koeberg nuclear power plant. Today it provides services and maintenance for the ESKOM electricity company and for AREVA. It employs nearly 200 people, including 60 engineers and technicians with wide experience in the nuclear industry.

For over 30 years, Lesedi Nuclear Services, in cooperation with AREVA, has provided services and maintenance for the 2 ESKOM reactors in Koeberg. Since the beginning of the partnership with Lesedi in 2001, a lot of these products and services have bee provided at local level.
A commitment to South Africa
By becoming a majority shareholder in Lesedi Nuclear Services in 2001, with 51% of shares, AREVA confirmed its willingness to invest in the development of the nuclear market in South Africa, while offering its subsidiary the means with which to become a major player on this market.
With over 200 staff, the company meets the BEE criteria (Black Economic Empowerment).
