Technical Training Center: technical training in the United States
The Technical Training Center is an advanced training center aimed at meeting the growing nuclear site maintenance needs in the United States.
Built by AREVA in Virginia, the Technical Training Center extends over 8,000 square meters. It has classrooms, offices and real-size models of steam generators, reactor vessels and other major components of nuclear power plants.
It also boasts a reactor pit filled with water and a fuel handling crane for pressurized water reactors (PWR) and boiling water reactors (BWR). This equipment enables training for operators in the handling of wet fuel.
Aside from its mission to train local staff, the Technical Training Center also provides training in American standards for AREVA technicians from France and Germany.
Finally, it contributes to the development of higher qualifications for present and future recruitment, thanks to its association with Central Virginia Community College, aiming to create a certified training degree program.
