Creusot Forge et Creusot Mécanique: the production of large forged parts - Environmental Monitoring
Creusot Forge and Creusot Mécanique implement a proactive policy to minimize waste and effluents of all kinds and to ensure that the impact of their operations remains negligible for the public.
As provided by administrative order and in the effluent discharge agreement signed with local communities responsible for water treatment, waste water produced at Creusot Forge and Creusot Mécanique is monitored regularly, including rain water released in the environment. A discharge permit and a special discharge agreement further strengthen these monitoring requirements.
Releases in the air are mostly the byproducts of natural gas used at Creusot Forge for component preheating and thermal treatment. For several years already, Creusot Forge has been committed to implementing the best available techniques in order to limit the consumption of natural gas to the maximum extent possible, in particular by using self-recuperative burners and regenerative burners.
Neither of these two sites releases radioactivity in the air.
