French National Institute of Health and Medical Research (Inserm)
In January 2011, AREVA Med signed a cooperative research agreement with the French National Institute of Health and Medical Research (Inserm) for the development of innovative cancer treatments. The AREVA/Inserm research program will be chaired by Dr. Jean-Pierre Pouget, Head of the Radiobiology Department at the Montpellier Cancer Research Institute under the direction of Dr. André Pèlegrin.
University of Cincinnati
In 2010, AREVA Med and the University of Cincinnati in Ohio signed a research agreement to develop a new treatment to combat cancer. Under the agreement, AREVA will notably provide medical grade isotope lead-212 to university researchers to conduct studies on alpha radioimmunotherapy’s effectiveness as a treatment for prostate cancer.
University of Alabama at Birmingham
In 2009, AREVA Med partnered with the University of Alabama at Birmingham, a United States Comprehensive Cancer Research Center, to prepare the first clinical trials of lead-212 alpha radioimmunotherapy.
National Cancer Institute
In June 2008, AREVA and the United States National Cancer Institute (NCI) signed a Cooperative Research and Development Agreement for the design of a new radiopharmaceutical drug using lead-212.
AREVA Med is working with the NCI and the University of Alabama at Birmingham to obtain Food and Drug Administration authorization for human trials using lead-212 alpha radioimmunotherapy to treat cancer.
