Darrell R. Fisher, PhD, is a medical physicist at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory. He leads the Laboratory’s Isotope Sciences Program, where he is responsible for radioisotope production and applications research. This work includes production and testing of radium-224 generator systems.
Fisher specializes in the health effects and dosimetry of exposure to radiation, radioactive materials, and medically administered radiopharmaceuticals. He received his doctorate in nuclear engineering sciences from the University of Florida in 1978, and has been a Laboratory research scientist since that time.
On loan to the new U.S. Department of Homeland Security, he also served as science advisor at U.S. Customs and Border Protection Headquarters in Washington, D.C. He is an adjunct faculty member at the University of Washington and Washington State University, and he is active in the Health Physics Society, American Nuclear Society, and Society of Nuclear Medicine.
