The Mining business group covers the activities of prospecting for new deposits, extracting and processing of uranium ore and the reclamation of sites after they have been mined. AREVA is the third largest producer of uranium in the world, with a market share of around 14.6% in 2008. The group holds a broad portfolio of mines in operation (Canada, Kazakhstan and Niger) and projects under development (Africa). Mining represented 5.7% of AREVA's sales revenue in 2008.
