Overview of the Mining business group

The Mining Business Group is active on every continent, exploring for new deposits, mining and milling uranium ore, and rehabilitating sites at the end of mining operations.
With a market share of close to 16% in 2009, AREVA is the second largest uranium producer in the world. The group has a diversified portfolio of operating mines in Canada, Kazakhstan and Niger as well as projects under development in Africa.
General presentation
The Mining business group covers exploration, extraction and processing of uranium ore. It subsequently reclaims mining sites once production has finished.
Challenges and perspectives
AREVA is strengthening its position as leader through three aspects: increased production, diversification of mining resources and searching for deposits.
