AREVA's Front End activities

The Front End activities of the nuclear fuel cycle take place following the mining and processing of the ore. The front end combines the services of uranium conversion and enrichment along with the manufacturing of fuel assemblies for nuclear reactors.
The know-how of the Chemistry BU, front end and back end of the nuclear fuel cycle, allows it to propose services in non-nuclear chemistry.
Enrichment consists of increasing the proportion of uranium-235 found in the natural uranium in order to produce a fuel that can be used in nuclear reactors.
The Fuel BU covers every aspect of the fuel design and fuel production, from zirconium technology to the finished assembly.
