Dialogue with stakeholders

The site managers are in ongoing contact with local people and are dedicated to establishing an open dialogue with them, not only to be able to listen to what they have to say, but also to keep them informed about site issues and activities. This is achieved by means of regular meetings, written communication or work undertaken jointly with all the external stakeholders: elected representatives, local authorities, local population, associations, journalists.

Information and communication

With the aim of integrating the site into its environment, and ensuring transparency and proactive communication, multiple communication actions are undertaken.

  • Local Information and Consultation Committee

CLIC, a space for dialogue and discussion

COMURHEX Malvési takes part in CLIC (Local Information and Consultation Committee). The CLIC is a key consultative forum for sharing information, communicating and meeting with local contacts.

It is set up by the Prefect of the Departement for any upper-tier SEVESO classified site where the risk exposure boundary includes at least one room of living quarters or a permanent workplace. This committee has existed since 2005 and comprises the following:

    • representatives of the local authorities,
    • environmental protection associations,
    • any other institutions concerned, for the purpose of sharing information and communication.

  • Communication actions

    Communication actions

    • Site visits are organized regularly for elected officials, representatives of chambers of commerce and other representatives of the local business world. The site also organizes dedicated visits for its customers. Thus, in 2010, there were about fifty group visits to the COMURHEX site.
    • The site has also spent the last few years building a close relationship with its nearest neighbors. As part of this, opportunities for exchanges of communication are organized on or near the site.
    • The site maintains close contact with the press, particularly during events that concern its activities.
    • The public can also view information booklets, available on request from the communications department and distributed during participation in external events.

  • Public inquiry

Public inquiry concerning the application for modification of the authorization to operate ICPEs (Installations Classified for Environmental Protection)

As part of the implementation of the COMURHEX II project on the Malvési site, a public inquiry was held from September 15th to October 30th, 2009. This provided an opportunity for anyone who wished to express an opinion and to become familiar with the file presenting the proposed modification of the authorization to operate ICPEs (Installations Classified for Environmental Protection). After the end of the public inquiry and the obtaining of the building permit, the COMURHEX II project was able to move into active implementation.
