Environmental measures

AREVA has implemented environmental tracking as long as the site has been operational. Measures are collected regularly in order to control impacts. The results are communicated to local authorities each month and to the general public each year via an environmental, social and company report.
AREVA Miramas monitors the environmental impact of its operations and is committed to limiting it as much as reasonably possible:
- Water releases: effluents are treated (oil and mercury are removed and recycled) and controlled as they leave the station.
- Atmospheric releases: the level of gaseous mercury released from the dismantling zone is measured continuously at air vents and exhausts. Releases are low and remain within the limits authorized by associated prefectoral order.
- Waste: whether the result of dismantling or not, industrial waste from AREVA Miramas is sorted, checked, treated and recycled to the extent possible.
- Monitoring installation, dismantling and cleanup: inspecting groundwater, monitoring airborne particulate emissions, taking special measures at reclamation sites, etc.
All measures and results are outlined in the environmental, social and company report for AREVA Miramas, which is distributed to the general public each year.
