AREVA Richland's products and services include the following:

  • Provision of fuel for pressurized water reactors (PWRs) and boiling water reactors (BWRs)
  • Handling used fuel, e.g. packaging and transport

AREVA has modernized its production lines at the Richland site. These modifications include implementing new processes for loading fuel rods and welding plugs. The Richland plant has also put in a new loading system which uses low-frequency vibrations to insert fuel pellets into the rods. This process prevents damage to the pellets during loading.
