Compact Linear Fresnel Reflector (CLFR)
AREVA Solar’s core technology, the Compact Linear Fresnel Reflector (CLFR) solar collector and steam generation system, uses modular flat reflectors to focus the sun's heat onto elevated receivers, which consist of a system of tubes through which water flows. The concentrated sunlight boils the water in the tubes, generating high-pressure steam for direct use in power generation and industrial steam applications without the need for costly heat exchangers.
Utility-Scale Solar and Solar-Hybrid Power Generation
AREVA Solar supplies solar steam generators for utility-scale, standalone power plants. The company also offers a low-cost, natural gas back-up boiler (solar-hybrid plant design) that can meet the same dispatchability levels as conventional power plants, but with far lower emissions.
Industrial Steam Processes
AREVA Solar offers industrial customers direct solar steam or hot water for diverse process steam applications, ranging from enhanced oil recovery and petrochemical refining, to food processing and desalination.
Steam Augmentation
AREVA Solar’s solar steam generators provide steam augmentation for existing and new build natural gas-fired and coal-fired power plants. Our solar steam generators enable power customers to increase electricity production at peak periods and reduce plant emissions.

TEP Selects AREVA Solar as Technology Partner for Innovative CSP Booster Project
Tucson Electric Power is partnering with AREVA Solar on an innovative concentrated solar power addition to TEP’s H. Wilson Sundt Generating Station in Tucson, Ariz. TEP’s Sundt Solar Boost Project will use AREVA Solar’s Compact Linear Fresnel Reflector solar steam generators to produce up to 5 megawatts of power.
AREVA Solar Part of Consortium Selected by Australian Government
Solar Dawn is a proposed 250 megawatt solar thermal gas hybrid power plant and will be the largest plant of its kind in the world when completed. The Australian Commonwealth and Queensland Governments also announced their commitment to contribute AU$ 464 million and AU$ 75 million, respectively, to the project.
Kogan Creek Solar Boost Project
AREVA has been awarded a major contract to install a 44 megawatt solar thermal augmentation project at a 750 megawatt coal-fired power station in Queensland, Australia, representing the largest solar project in the Southern Hemisphere and the world’s largest solar/coal-fired power augmentation project.
California’s First Solar Thermal Plant in Nearly 20 Years
Located in Bakersfield, CA, AREVA Solar’s Kimberlina Solar Thermal Power Plant is the first of its kind in North America and the first CSP plant to come online California in nearly 20 years.
India: AREVA awarded contract by Reliance to build Asia’s largest concentrated solar power installation
AREVA has been selected in April 2012 by the Indian group Reliance Power Limited to build two concentrated solar power installation in the Rajasthan state.
