Cooling the Nuclear fuel is one of the three basic safety functions of Nuclear Power Plants. The Fukushima accident send a clear message to each NPP operators, to verify the robustness of the cooling function against internal and external hazards for all facilities with residual heat generation and, if needed, to strengthen it on all levels of the defense-in-depth concept.

Le Comité des Ressources naturelles de la Chambre canadienne des Communes réfléchit actuellement à un amendement à la loi sur la sûreté et le contrôle nucléaire. Cet amendement faciliterait les investissements des banques et autres institutions financières dans le domaine du nucléaire.
