USA: AREVA Signs a New Contract to Supply Fuel to FirstEnergy’s Davis-Besse Nuclear Power Station

FirstEnergy Nuclear Operating Company, a subsidiary of Akron, Ohio-based FirstEnergy Corp., has extended its fuel fabrication contract with AREVA, for the continued fuel delivery to the Davis-Besse Nuclear Power Station located in northwestern Ohio.

Under the amendment of its 2006 agreement, AREVA will provide six batches of reload fuel, and associated engineering services, with deliveries beginning in 2014. All six of these reload batches are firm orders which will supply fuel to Davis-Besse through 2026.

This contract extension confirms the choice of FirstEnergy Corp. for AREVA’s advanced, high performance fuel assembly design, which gives high satisfaction since the first deliveries in 2006. AREVA has been supplying fuel to Davis-Besse since it began operations in 1977.
