The EPR moves forward in UK licensing process
The UK Nuclear Regulators* published statements today on the findings and the conclusions of the preliminary stage of the Generic Design Assessment (GDA) of AREVA's EPR (Evolutionary Power Reactor).
AREVA welcomes the Regulators' announcement that enables its generation III+ reactor to move forward to the next step in the GDA process.
AREVA and EDF have jointly submitted the EPR GDA application in the UK. In addition, 10 European utilities support the licensing of AREVA's reactor in the country.
A global EPR fleet is currently being developed by AREVA. Its generation III+ reactor is under construction in Finland and France with preliminary works underway in China. AREVA has also submitted a licensing application in the United States and recently bid for the construction of EPRs in the Republic of South Africa.
