AREVA reinforces its development in the mining sector through a partnership with Technip and SGN
AREVA has signed a partnership agreement with TSU Project, a joint venture that brings together its subsidiary, SGN, and Technip. The AREVA group will thus benefit from the skills of two engineering companies specialized in managing major industrial projects.
AREVA is set to double its annual uranium production (6,000 metric tons in 2007) over the next five years by mining around ten new deposits across the world. This project will require an investment of over 3 billion euros, mainly in Africa.
The combined know-how of Technip and SGN will secure the development of AREVA's mining projects. The group notably intends to quicken the Imouraren and Trekkopie projects, respectively located in Niger and Namibia.
SGN is a world leader in nuclear fuel cycle engineering and a key partner for AREVA's major nuclear projects in France and abroad.
Technip, one of the world leaders in oil and gas engineering, is a reference figure worldwide for managing major international projects. It also boasts expertise in mining and metals (nickel, uranium, bauxite/alumina, silicon, etc.).
