Jürgen Maier has served as director of the NGO Forum Umwelt & Entwicklung since 1996. This Bonn-based non-governmental organization is a network for the international initiatives of German environmental and development associations. Prior to his current position, Jürgen Maier worked in Hesse for the Asia Foundation, which supports exchange with the populations of Asian countries.

After serving as advisor to the managing director of the Agence de l’Environnement et la Maîtrise de l’Énergie (ADEME), a French government agency for environment protection and energy savings, from 1992 to 1998, Cédric Philibert joined the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) in late 1998 and the International Energy Agency (IEA) a year later. He is currently an Administrator for IEA’s Energy and Environment division.
