Can a corporate entity be trusted to act responsibly?

Profitability and accountability must go hand in hand to ensure lasting development. It is in the interest of the company to act responsibly and minimise the risks. From now on, civil society evaluates, judges and sometimes condemns the level of responsibility of a company's behaviour by estimating in a positive or negative light its contribution to the common good. To answer in terms of social usefulness, acceptability, legitimacy and hence, in terms of trust, is at the base of the so-called reputability value, very virtual indeed, but crucial to the company. To progress in this task, we have enlisted the support of an ethics and science committee made of eminent representatives of civil society who are to help the Group with regard to overall responsibility
