Can nuclear power solve the energy problems of the future?

That would be too easy! Nuclear is not the solution: it is more critical to do something about demand, develop renewable energies in their centers of excellence, etc. But I don't think there is a solution that doesn't include nuclear. In terms of worldwide supply, nuclear power currently accounts for as much as Saudi Arabia's oil production. That's no small thing, but nuclear power will have to grow even more to really help promote sustainable development: electricity today, freshwater production tomorrow, and then— who knows? —nuclear plants might be used to produce hydrogen and synthetic fuels. It's a young technology, still capable of enormous progress.
