Track and Field

AREVA, sponsoring track and field

Athletics is an inclusive sport – one that everyone can practice and enjoy – built on excellence. The dynamics of continuous improvement, the potential for each person to succeed, the enthusiasm and above all the energy are points that AREVA has in common with track and field.

AREVA is interested in making the connection between the sport as it is practiced by the great track and field athletes and the sport that anyone can enjoy, that brings people together, and that is respectful of the environment. It is above all a human connection, and it is central to AREVA’s commitment to track and field.

A wide-ranging, long-term partnership program

AREVA became a track and field partner in 2009. The group wants to invest in the sport over the long term, driven by a desire to:

 help boost track and field by building on the public enthusiasm that major events generate;

 sponsor top athletes and up-and-coming champions;

 promote the sport outside the stadium as a recreational activity that everyone can enjoy.

To meet these goals, AREVA is organizing its partnership program around four core components in 2009:

 the AREVA Meeting

 the French Athletics Federation (FFA), for which AREVA is now the leading partner:

    - for example, the French Team will wear our brand during international competitions, and
    - AREVA will also be closely associated with all French Championship events.

 the French National Athletics League, as a way to sponsor professional athletes.

In addition, AREVA wants to get more involved in events outside the professional stadium, such as races or marathons that resonate with amateur athletes.

Building AREVA’s communications strategy around track and field

Joining forces with a world that reflects its own image is a way for AREVA to strengthen an already close relationship with its external stakeholders. It is also a way for the group to broaden its appeal even more to meet its considerable recruitment needs, and thus to keep pace with the challenges of growth. For the group internally, it also is a wonderful opportunity to rally its 75,000 employees around a meaningful program, all together.

The AREVA Meeting: a high point in track and field

A must on the international track and field calendar, the AREVA Meeting symbolizes the egalitarian and festive values of the sport. The grand finale of AREVA’s commitment in terms of visibility, the AREVA Meeting is also a meeting of athletes with their public, a fascinating display of athletic prowess and a thrilling moment for all.

As the fourth stage of the Golden League circuit, the AREVA Meeting is the leading track and field event in France and one of the biggest of its kind in the sporting world: nearly 50,000 spectators filled the stands at the Stade de France. They came to experience the unique thrill of seeing champions compete in the 16 events of this high-level track and field meet, and to cheer on the sport’s international stars, including Usain Bolt, the 100 meter champion and world record holder for the 100 and 200 meter races.
