An hands-on training relating to 600 tons of spent fuel

The agreement between JNFL and COGEMA* was signed in 2001 after more than two years of negotiations to define conditions for COGEMA* support to JNFL during testing and startup of the Rokkasho Mura used fuel treatment plant, scheduled for mid-2006.

The contract is unique in that one hundred engineers and technicians from JNFL were trained at the La Hague plant from September 2001 to mid-2004 while 600 metric tons of used fuel were being treated.
