Water consumption reduced by half

COGEMA* Marcoule - Checks performed on the steam piping system

Reducing unnecessary water use

COGEMA* Marcoule is one of the AREVA sites that uses the largest quantity of water. In 2004, the site launched a program to reduce its water consumption by 2006. This program is consistent with industry trends towards recycling water used in industrial facilities while reducing overall water use.

To evaluate the UP1 plant's complex piping systems, the teams in charge of operations and maintenance performed in-depth investigations that identified sub-optimal adjustments, faulty water metering equipment and insufficiently tight valves on auxiliary circuits.
