Drinking water consumption reduced by 16% in Niger

The Arlit open pit mine, Niger - COGEMA*/Olivier Martel

In the desert region of Aïr in Niger, daily temperatures average more than 40°C year-round and less than 100 mm of rain falls each year. COMINAK, the COGEMA* group subsidiary that operates a mining complex there, is working to conserve valuable water resources by setting goals for reducing drinking water consumption as part of its environmental management system.

Employees and their families are pitching in to help preserve the water table and ensure sustainable water supply.
