Easier reactor vessel inspections…

The Trans-World System (TWS), a remotely operated manipulator system, with its phased-array scanning transducers has been developed at Lynchburg, USA, for ultrasonic examinations of PWR reactor vessels.

The system supports full 10-year ultrasonic and visual inspections with minimal disruption of outage activity.

The TWS reduces vessel inspection time and minimizes site resource requirements for ultrasonic examination of reactor vessels. Phased-array technology reduces total scan distances to achieve shorter examination times.
