Zirconium… at the very heart of fuel assembly  design

Thanks to their outstanding neutron transparency and high corrosion resistance, zirconium alloys are ideal for the manufacture of the tubes, bars, and plates which form the framework of nuclear fuel assemblies. In addition, the material is used to clad the leaktight housings of fuel pellets.

CEZUS, a subsidiary of Framatome ANP*, an AREVA and Siemens company, is involved in every stage of zirconium metallurgy - from transforming the ore to manufacturing the final tubes - guaranteeing total quality control throughout the entire process.
