Boosting fuel burnup while maximizing fuel reliability

Beyond the successes of its existing products, Framatome ANP*, an AREVA and Siemens company, is conducting innovative research programs on cladding materials, fuel pellet microstructure, and fuel assembly thermo-hydraulic performance. These performance enhancements aim to boost fuel burnup - the amount of energy generated in the reactor - and maneuverability.

These technological advances are performed while adhering to the very high degree of fuel reliability required to maintain reactor availability.
