Rail / road transfer of residues after vitrification operation

A cask designed for transportation and storage

The research and development programs of COGEMA* Logistics, a COGEMA* subsidiary, have led to the development of a series of high-performance casks that enable to transport vitrified residues or used nuclear fuel and store them for long periods of time.

The TN24TM casks were designed for the transport and dry storage of used fuel assemblies and can hold from 24 to 40 PWR assemblies and up to 97 BWR assemblies.

These casks meet extremely demanding health and safety standards and in particular must pass severe tests: drop test, fire, etc.
