The first EPR sold by the group to be built in Santa Claus land...

Finnish utility TVO chose the AREVA group for construction of its fifth reactor at the Olkiluoto site. The turnkey contract covers the supply of both the nuclear island and the conventional island of the EPR. Commercial startup is expected in 2009.

The advanced EPR's evolutionary design draws on the group's expertise, gained from the construction of close to 100 reactors around the globe. With some 1,600 MWe of power, the EPR is the world's only 3rd generation reactor currently under construction.

In France, where a public debate took place, EDF chose the Flamanville site (Western, France) to host its first EPR reactor.

In the United States, the process to license the EPR has begun, and AREVA and U.S. utility Constellation have jointly established UNISTAR Nuclear to market the first American EPRs.
