A reactor coolant pump on the production line, Jeumont Plant (France)

Huge equipment: more than 100 tons and 8.50 meters high…

The reactor coolant pump plays a key role in nuclear power plant safety and availability. It pumps the primary coolant water through the reactor vessel and then through the steam generators. It operates at nearly 1,500 revolution per minute and can output up to 24,500 m3 of water per hour.

Jeumont, a subsidiary of Framatome ANP*, an AREVA and Siemens company, designs and manufactures every part of the reactor coolant pump (the casing, motor, hydraulic system, and shaft seal) and covers everything from installation to maintenance. Over the past 30 years, 220 equipments of this type have been built.
