A cask on the open seas…

MOX fuel is shipped by sea in special packaging usually called casks. Each cask weighs from 80 to 100 metric tons and measures almost 6 meters long by 2.5 meters in diameter.

These casks meet extremely demanding French and international safety standards and in particular must pass severe tests such as drop test, fire, immersion, etc.
